Way back when, while first creating Maliya Pel, our operative word was “badass.” She needed to be BADASS. Look at this picture. I think we succeeded.
Fun fact: Maliya Pel gets her name from two roundabout sources. First, my high school girlfriend’s middle name is “Aliya,” which always stuck with me. Second, I added the “M” and used “Maliya Pel” as the name of one of my PCs for (get this) Knights of the Old Republic, way back when. In my mind, she had a sister named Lourda Pel…and it is canon in the comic that our Maliya has a sister.
