Referring to someone as a “blunt instrument” is something of a cliche, I know. I think M memorably used it to describe Bond in Casino Royale…but I figure if it’s good enough for Dame Judi Dench, it’s probably good enough for Maliya Pel. Besides, she’s not an orator. It’s okay if she leans into cliche every once in a while. (Mostly though, sometimes a common expression is simply the best choice.)
