Sometimes I just throw in a new place name into the dialogue. I have no idea where it is or what purpose it will serve in the story, if any, but I do it. Sometimes I do just to make the world feel a little larger…and besides, I will eventually want to take the story to new places. This method gives me new places BEFORE I need them.
