A lot of the plot beats in Hunter Black are meticulously planned. I know a lot of what happens not only in this first storyline, but in the next as well. That said, some of this writing is done by the seat of my pants, and sometimes good stuff comes out of it. This scene represents some of the stuff that came out more organically rather than through planning, and I think/hope that there will be an interesting new dynamic for a while.
