The Church has been after Hunter Black since the very beginning of the comic, although we never saw a Wanted poster or the size of a bounty until this page in Volume Two. We never showed it on the page, but in many ways, Hunter’s assassination of the old Great Throne was the inciting action that set this whole story in motion — and now the are factions within the Church basically offering to wipe the slate clean so they can remake the Church according to their own ideas (and those of their gods). Honestly, this feels a little more like modern politics than I meant it to.
