I’m pretty sure the word “whence” is only used by nerds and even then only to refer to the place from which someone has come. You never see or hear the line, “Hey, whence are you going?”
EDIT: Not three hours before me posting this, a friend of mine used “whence” while we were playing D&D, and she was not telling someone to go back where they came from. It doesn’t often take long for me to be proven wrong!
