Whenever I wonder what the various magic-wielding characters are capable of, I tend to just ask myself what class they’d be in D&D and tailor their abilities — and even their style — to fit whatever I think the answer is. Hoc Zhai is definitely a high-level cleric, so…yeah. Even villains can heal.
(Fun fact: Perhaps my favorite version of the cleric class was in 2nd Edition, so to this day, I think the word “priest” before I think “cleric.”)
